Whether you’re an insurance adjuster or producer in Florida, you’re likely aware that your license is perpetual. However, while no renewal is required, you must take steps to keep your Florida insurance license active. This includes maintaining an appointment with an appropriate appointing entity or person and staying current with your Florida insurance continuing education (CE) requirements.
Maintaining Your Appointment
Your appointment is typically set up when you first obtain your license. As long as you keep it active—something easily managed via eAppoint—you’re covered on that front.
Florida Insurance Continuing Education Requirements
To keep your Florida insurance license active, you need to meet the state’s CE requirements, which vary depending on how long you’ve held your license. If you’ve been a producer or adjuster for less than six years, you must complete 24 hours of CE every two years. After six years, your requirement drops to 20 hours.
Regardless of your experience level, part of your CE hours must include a Florida 5-hour law and ethics update.
Required Courses by License Type
The specific courses you need depend on the type of Florida insurance license you hold. Here’s an overview for licensees requiring 24 hours of CE (subtract five hours for those needing only 20 hours):

- Health (02-40): 5 hours of law and ethics update (5-240), 19 elective hours
