About Course

Course Overview

This six-hour continuing education course provides licensed Texas adjusters with a comprehensive operational treatment of personal lines residential property coverage, organized around the ISO homeowners program and the Texas HO-A, HO-B, and HO-C forms. It is designed for adjusters who hold a working familiarity with insurance fundamentals and require a thorough, practice-oriented command of how Texas residential forms are structured, how coverage is triggered and valued under each, and how claims are administered in compliance with Texas statutory requirements.

The course examines the four pillars of homeowners coverage and the six-part ISO coverage architecture before analyzing each Texas form in turn, including named-perils and open-perils coverage triggers, the principal exclusions, and the valuation methodologies that distinguish actual cash value from replacement cost. It addresses dwelling and personal property coverage, loss of use, personal liability, and medical payments, and it develops the operational dimensions of residential claim handling: the claim workflow, documentation standards, prompt-payment compliance, proof of loss and appraisal, specialized loss types including windstorm, hail, water, and mold, and coverage administration matters such as mortgagee rights, vacancy conditions, and endorsements. Instruction integrates worked case studies throughout and culminates in multi-coverage claim resolution and a synthesis of the professional standard for residential claims practice. Statutory references reflect current Texas law, including the prompt-payment provisions of the Texas Insurance Code, the cancellation and nonrenewal requirements as amended, and the framework governing the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.
